MARC RANDAL STRAHN, CPL

 

 

Marc Randal Strahn, CPL, is President of The Wolf Haven Corporation and High Story Ventures, Inc., oil and gas acquisition and divestiture companies specializing in mineral and production properties in the Rocky Mountain Region.  Marc also serves of Executive Counsel to Hoover & Stacy, Inc., of Cheyenne, Wyoming, a Rocky Mountain Land Brokerage Firm.  He has thirty-seven years of field landman and management experience. Marc first discovered what a Landman was while he worked for American Land Title Company in Bozeman, Montana in 1976.  He was formerly an independent landman and one of the owners of Hanson & Strahn, Inc., of Cheyenne, Wyoming, until he retired from the land brokerage business on May 31, 2007.  Marc attended Montana State University for four years in Political Science/Pre-Law and Business Management before he accepted a position in the oil & gas industry in his senior year.  He was appointed in 2001, by the Governor of Wyoming, to the Wyoming State Energy Commission where he finished his term as its Chairman.  Marc was appointed in 2002, to the Wyoming Natural Gas Pipeline Authority where he finished his term as their Vice-Chairman.  Marc has served three two-year terms as the Wyoming Director to the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), the national organization for Landmen in North America and over the years has served on many national committees for AAPL.  For the 2009 to 2010 term of office, Marc was elected to serve as Secretary to the Executive Committee for AAPL. Marc is a member and Speaker for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and currently serves as the Trustee for AAPL to that organization.  He has held all offices in his State Association, the Wyoming Association of Professional Landmen including their President.  In 2013, Marc was appointed to the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources External Advisory Committee for their new Professional Land Management Program. Marc was elected President of the American Association of Professional Landmen and served his term with distinction from 2015 to 2016.  He currently serves as the Chairman of the National Nominating Committee of AAPL. A former Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, Marc also enjoys world travel and anything that involves a shotgun.  He hopes one day to learn the frustrating game of golf.  He currently resides in Story Wyoming with his wife and life long partner Kathi Hanson, CPL.
