John Michael was a wonderful man.  He gave me my first shot in New Mexico; when my daughter was born, he made sure I got off the road and could work from home; he helped me go in-house although I was still working for him at the time; he showed me, and I'm sure countless others, many kindnesses that I cannot begin to name.

I'll miss being able to pick up the phone and get his jovial answer on the other hand.

Kelly & I are heartbroken for his family and friends.

I'm so shocked reading about the passing of  John Michael today.  I worked with John Michael for years while I was in Roswell, NM.  He worked with me on many projects, and helped me when I was in charge of the Santa Fe Land Institute in its first year, September 2001.He was always there when I needed help putting deals together, getting the due diligence done or any other land related work, field or in-house.  But, I will miss him most, as my friend.  He made me laugh my head off and buy me lunch when in town.  It feels so sad that he is gone, but for me, he will always be remembered with love.

Worked with John Michael back in the early days in Lafayette in the 80's.  Have not seen him in years, but still remember him as jovial, gregarious and good natured - ALL of the time.  He will be missed greatly by our industry.

John Michael was a prince of a guy. First met him when he came over to Mississippi and we worked together for Hess (then Amerada Hess) in 1980 as I recall and this was the early days of a CO2 play here. We had a an ongoing friendly competition to see which one of us could trade and close the most 5 year leases with 5 year options each week on the play. He loved the catfish and cornbread over here and we worked together here for a little over a year. Both of us were young in the business just trying to make it and establish a name for ourselves.

He bought a fire engine red pick-up truck while he was over here and drove it home to New Mexico at the end of the project and I think he kept that truck in his family for a very long time.

I just talked to him just a few months ago. He will be missed by many and my condolences to his family.

Echoing the sentiments of so many, John Michael was a wonderful guy - professional, thoughtful, hardworking and so fun to spend time with.  We worked together on a couple of projects, and he always kept us moving in the right direction.

My husband and I loved being able to invite ourselves over to park our motorhome in the Richardson's driveway, to enjoy their wonderful place in the country and of course to enjoy their company and hospitality.  We will miss him, and send our deepest condolences to Marian and Jack.

Bo, I did not know him.  Was he in Jackson just before we moved there in July 1981?  I hope y'all have a great Holiday season.  Johnny

Did several deals with John Michael over the past 5 years.  A simply first class, honorable and skilled Landman. I was most broken hearted to hear of his loss.
Always a friendly voice and a good attitude.  We can all learn from the good ones like JMR...I will miss him dearly.
