For those working at home – can someone recommend a good scanner that is part of an All-In-One Printer/Scanner for home use?

    Thank you.

    Carolyn,

The best "All In Ones" that I have ever run across for a Landman working out of a Home Office has been the series of them that the Brother Company has to offer.

You might have to look around on their website for the Desktop Models that have up to 11 x 17 Copying, Scanning, and Emailing capabilities, but they have them.

I have two, and the only complaint that I have ever had about them is their "Black" Ink is not as "Black" as I would like it to be.

Other than that, they are the best that I know of on the market today.

    Hope this helps -

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 7740. I really like it because it has two paper trays and scans and prints up to 11x17. It doesn't take up that much room either and was only around $200 on Amazon.

    Carolyn:

The best one I've found is the HP OfficeJet Pro 8630 All in One.

It's not really expensive, it's big enough to handle big jobs, and I've used mine pretty hard for almost 3 years now with zero problems.

    Good luck !

I know you were asking about all-in-ones, but the best tech money I ever spent was $400 for my ScanSnap iX500. It's fast, quiet, and small; and comes with a suite of good software for converting PDF to Word, OCR, converting scanned tables to Excel, etc. I have never seen an all-in-one that came close to the speed and ease of use of the ScanSnap. I have a separate HP LaserJet laser printer that I think was $99 on sale. The iX500 is discontinued and replaced by the iX1500, which I hear is equally as good.

    Best regards,

    Tom

    Tom,
You nailed it! Additionally, I also have a iX500 (a bit pricey but the best scanner tool imho) and use a HP OfficeJet 200 Mobile printer. I can fit each into a Trader Joe's blue bag for field, CH and meetings with the clients. Perfect for hotels while on the road. The light mobility is ideal when in the field and functional size of each tool creates more space for the home office.

Have a great, safe and healthy weekend!

    Mr. Rubane

    Sir you nailed it!

Additionally I use a HP Laser Mobil 200.

I can fit each into a Trader Joe's blue bag for visits to the CH or the client's offices or for travel.

The light mobility is awesome for in the field and the size is better with less clutter.

Have a safe and healthy weekend.

I'm using an HP Jet Pro 9025.  It's a very moderately priced all-in-one that serves all my needs very well.  Easy to set up, direct and/or networkable wireless, intuitive software, and would be adequate even for a small office.  One caveat:  It handles only letter and legal paper.  If your needs call for ledger (11 x 17), you will have to look elsewhere.

    Good Afternoon Carolyn,

I recently purchased the HP Color LaserJet M479fdw (link below).  It does everything I could want/need:  prints b&w + color, letter and legal size, scanning feed tray and bay large enough for legal, etc.

    Hope this helps!

    Respectfully,

I also have the HP Color Laser Jet M479fdw and it does about everything I need.  The recommendation came from a friend who is the IT coordinator for a small independent.  Got it at Office Depot for under $500.  They are on sale now for $449.

    Philip,

We just recently purchased this same printer as well and purchased through Amazon, too. Best Buy had the same deal, but Amazon shipped faster. So far so good.

I can tell you what NOT to get.

HP M148dw. I recently set up a second office computer and got one of these solely because it was inexpensive. Mistake.

My HP Officejet Pro 8600+ color inkjet has been fine. I was utterly shocked at just how bad the M148dw scanning/copy function is in comparison. I've tried every setting it has and it's a "very rough draft" quality at best and that's being generous. I'm scanning a bunch of old paper files to get rid of them and clean up storage. Its usable for my purpose but just barely and certainly not near any level approaching what you would hand over to a client.

so glad you told me. That's my pet peeve is scanning. i just bought a pricy Canon Image Class mf269dw and after hours on-line with technical support - they could not override the internal settings - all scans are faded. Thank you.

Type of unit depends on your usage and budget. For big jobs (100 plus pages, I find FedEx Office online printing to be efficient).

I used smaller HP and Brother units for a while for printing and a Fuji portable scanner. I realize this may not be the helpful answer you are seeking. Good luck in your search.

The Xerox 6515 DNI, works well for me, does letter and legal only though and is a little heavy, sells for around $320.
