Have been in the industry since 1981.  Membership to organizations such as DAPL or AAPL will rise and fall with the price of oil and gas.  Revenue might stay same with a reduced dues and might have more people connected to industry when bust is over... if there is a big cash reserve maybe it is time to grant free membership  or at least make it for half of current dues for next twelve months.  Dues are the first thing many will be forced to cut, companies and independents..... rough times.... everyone will be required to tighten budgets to survive.

Great organization for training and maintaining ethical standards, hope AAPL survives a long term downturn to be resource for the next generation.

I sent an email to AAPL on this very subject just a couple of weeks ago, and I have not gotten a reply to date. I basically said the same thing asking for a much reduced annual rate and suggesting the AAPL, if not already taking steps, to much reduce their overhead and expenses because it is an inevitable fact that membership will be falling drastically including myself if some kind of inactive membership was not instituted immediately. I've been a member for many years and would like to remain so, but I don't see our industry recovering for quite some time, if not for years.
