Had the fortunate opportunity to work with Doug for over a year here at Wagner.  Doug was a great man and a talented Land Director.  He had respect for those he worked with and he expected the best from all.  Proud to have known and worked with him.  He will be greatly missed!

This is a sorrowful loss to AAPL and the land profession. I met Doug back in the early 80s when his company was active in the Appalachian Basin. He was a good friend and mentor. We kept in touch and always had a warm spot in our hearts for each other. During the last couple of decades we were both actively involved at the national level and enjoyed working together for AAPL. He and his wife, Marty, were a great couple. He will be sorely missed.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Doug Black family.  I am saddened to hear of my good friend's passing.  He was a great person to know and an excellent landman who was always willing to help others.  In the spirit of his generosity, I will be donating to the charity of Mankind, Inc. It helps with the financial expenses of medical treatments for men.  See their website at www.foremankind.org.

Doug Black and I go back to 1984.  I was a young 5 year Landman and Doug invited me to join him in West Virginia  for what was supposed to be a 6 to 8 week project.  I ended up staying close to a year although I had not been married too long when I left for West VA  We were having too much fun working for Texas Oil & Gas  and on weekends to leave.  My wife, Sylvia Tighe built a house in my absence.  Today I count too many friends  to count now in the oil & gas business from getting to know and working with Doug Black.   Doug was one of those friends that you could call in Arkansas or wherever if you ran out of gas in MS and needed hel
    p.  Sylvia and I attended his funeral in Magnolia, AR this week and we enjoyed seeing many old friends but are very saddened this week .

Our sincere condolences go out to his wife, Marty and his son Rodney
