We are saddened to share the news that longtime AAPL member Doug Black passed away today. He was a valued member of AAPL since 1975 and also held a CPL designation. His funeral is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 2:30pm at Central Baptist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas.
Doug Black and I go back to 1984. I was a young 5 year Landman and Doug invited me to join him in West Virginia for what was supposed to be a 6 to 8 week project. I ended up staying close to a year although I had not been married too long when I left for West VA We were having too much fun working for Texas Oil & Gas and on weekends to leave. My wife, Sylvia Tighe built a house in my absence. Today I count too many friends to count now in the oil & gas business from getting to know and working with Doug Black. Doug was one of those friends that you could call in Arkansas or wherever if you ran out of gas in MS and needed help. Sylvia and I attended his funeral in Magnolia, AR this week and we enjoyed seeing many old friends but are very saddened this week .Our sincere condolences go out to his wife, Marty and his son RodneyBo Tighe, CPLRidgeland MS
