Russell,
Thank you and I concur. An area that AAPL members may want to champion is the engagement of their local officials, i.e. County Commissioners, School Boards, Hospital Districts. Being a product of Wyoming I know how these actions affect local revenues; and therefore, affect local budgets. For example, 65-70% of Wyoming's tax base has historically been from the mineral extraction industries and over 50% of the mineral estate is administered by the federal government. While I love our industry, the current administration and its appointees don't care about our jobs. However, when the messaging is delivered by the affected stakeholders that depend on oil and gas generated revenue it has traction. I can't think of anyone against the funding of public education, hospital districts, and critical infrastructure.
I encourage AAPL members to look at the University of Wyoming's School of Energy Resources Facebook page. The school hosted an hour long panel discussion on February 2nd which you can watch. It was very informative.
Attached is a photo of a study that AAPL funded in 1997 under David Cape's leadership. Mr. Cape and the AAPL leadership believed Federal Land Access is so important that AAPL funded the study and invited the other associations to sign on. This is an issue in our wheel house.

Michelle,
Thank you for your membership and support! From my experience working for a federal agency within the very department that fields letters for a cabinet secretary, I can tell you that agencies consider coordinated multiple letter/email campaigns as spam, which dilutes the message and possibly casts AAPL in an unfavorable light. They just operate differently than legislatures and we want our message to remain strong. However, when dealing with the U.S. Congress or state legislators, those offices are always receptive to individual/group communications. Of course, you may always send a letter to an agency on your own behalf and mention your AAPL affiliation but I can tell you that the agencies respond more readily to a letter representing the strength of the entire organization. Please feel free to contact me at any time if I can provide further details.

We should all sign onto a letter collectively to the President and let him know that we are the individuals and the families that his anti fossil fuel regulations are impacting. Letters from organizations are super impactful but so are letters from We the People.
A template we could use as a guide and the correct address or email would be most helpful. I am happy to help with this, who else wants to help?
What do you all think?
